VAM Officer – NOA Garowe

About the role

The Vulnerability Assessment and Monitoring (VAM) Officer will support the National Office of Agriculture (NOA) in Garowe, contributing to WFP’s mission to achieve Zero Hunger. The role involves collecting, analysing and reporting on food security data to inform programme design and policy in Somalia.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field assessments and surveys to capture vulnerability indicators.
• Analyse quantitative and qualitative data, produce regular situation reports and dashboards.
• Maintain and update the VAM database ensuring data quality and consistency.
• Collaborate with programme, logistics and partner teams to integrate findings into operational plans.
• Support the preparation of strategic documents, including the Country Strategic Plan and humanitarian response plans.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building to staff and partners on VAM methodologies.

Required profile

• University degree in social sciences, economics, statistics, agriculture or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in vulnerability assessment, food security monitoring or humanitarian data analysis.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Somali context and familiarity with UN humanitarian standards.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Somali is an advantage.
