Business Development Manager – Somalia

About the role

The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Head of Business Development to identify and secure new funding opportunities for Save the Children’s ongoing response in Somalia. Based in Mogadishu, the role involves building strong relationships with donor agencies, government ministries, partners and Save the Children members, and leading the preparation of high‑quality funding proposals.

Key responsibilities

• Research and disseminate information on emerging funding opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with donor agencies, government line ministries, partners and internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate the drafting, budgeting and submission of proposals to donors such as FCDO, UN bodies, World Bank, ECHO, EU, NORAD and private foundations.
• Monitor the country office’s portfolio and work to expand it.
• Adapt working hours and duties during major humanitarian emergencies.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in international studies, social development or a related field.
• Minimum five years of progressive fundraising experience, including successful proposal development for major institutional donors.
• Excellent writing, editing and budget development skills with high attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation and negotiation abilities.
• Proven organisational skills, ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) and commitment to Save the Children’s values.
• ICT literacy; Somali language proficiency or experience working through interpreters is desirable.
