Business Development Manager – Somalia

About the role

The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Head of Business Development to identify and share new funding opportunities for Save the Children’s ongoing response in Somalia. Based in Mogadishu, the role requires building strong relationships with donor agencies, government ministries, partners and Save the Children members to expand the country office’s funding portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Research, track and disseminate information on emerging funding opportunities across donor landscapes.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with donor agencies, government ministries, partners and Save the Children members.
• Lead the coordination and preparation of high‑quality funding proposals, including budgets and narrative components.
• Monitor and report on the status of proposals to ensure a growing and sustainable portfolio.
• Adapt work hours and duties during major humanitarian emergencies as required.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in international studies, social development or a related field.
• Minimum five years of progressive experience in fundraising, with a proven record of writing successful proposals for institutional donors such as FCDO, UN bodies, World Bank, ECHO, EU, NORAD, and private foundations.
• Excellent writing, editing and budget development abilities with strong attention to detail.
• Highly developed interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills, and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Fluency in English (both written and spoken) and a commitment to Save the Children’s values and child‑protection standards.
