Peace and Development Officer – UNDP Somalia

About the role

The Peace and Development Officer will support the Peace and Development and Peacebuilding Fund Advisor in strengthening coherence across UN entities, government, civil society and development partners in Somalia. The role focuses on research, conflict analysis and technical assistance to promote inclusive, conflict‑sensitive programming and sustain peace.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research, gather data and perform political, political‑economy and conflict analysis to inform UN peacebuilding activities.
• Identify entry‑points for programming and support inclusive, conflict‑sensitive approaches with civil society, women’s and youth networks.
• Provide technical support for coordination, partnership building and monitoring & evaluation of peace‑building initiatives.
• Assist the Advisor in servicing local mechanisms such as the Peacebuilding Fund Joint Steering Committee, ensuring allocations are catalytic and gender‑responsive.
• Contribute to strategic partnership development with donors, IFIs and alternative financing mechanisms.
