Senior Security Assistant

About the role

The Senior Security Assistant supports UNOPS Somalia’s safety and security operations, ensuring a secure environment for staff, offices, and project sites. Working closely with the security team, the incumbent facilitates timely information exchange and helps resolve security‑related issues in line with UNOPS policies and UN Security Management System standards.

Key responsibilities

• Gather, verify and update security data to support risk assessments, preparedness levels and security plans.
• Maintain up‑to‑date personnel lists, office and residence information, project‑site details, security focal points and the warden system.
• Disseminate relevant security updates for the country or designated areas of responsibility.
• Compile and tabulate survey results to monitor compliance with security mitigation measures.
• Document and assist in reporting security incidents affecting personnel, offices and assets.
• Represent UNOPS at Security Cell meetings when authorized, recording discussions and sharing routine information.
• Follow up on routine security actions on behalf of the supervisor and provide progress updates.

Required profile

• Proactive, client‑oriented attitude with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience in security administration or related support functions.
