SRH Project Officer

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a solutions‑driven SRH Project Officer to lead UNFPA‑funded sexual and reproductive health initiatives in Puntland and the Northeast State. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality SRH services, integrating them with primary health and nutrition programmes, and ensuring compliance with national and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of UNFPA‑funded SRH projects, meeting donor timelines, scope, and reporting requirements.
• Develop monthly, quarterly and annual work plans in collaboration with senior health staff and stakeholders.
• Ensure quality delivery of ANC, PNC, family planning, safe motherhood, clinical management of rape (CMR) and adolescent‑friendly services.
• Monitor project activities for compliance with national SRH protocols, WHO standards and IRC guidelines.
• Support integration of SRH services within primary health care and nutrition programmes.
• Conduct regular field visits to health facilities and outreach teams to assess service quality and provide technical assistance.
• Identify implementation challenges, devise action plans and support health facility staff in improving infection prevention, client‑centered care and overall quality.
• Oversee community outreach and awareness campaigns to increase utilization of SRH services.
• Document success stories, lessons learned and best practices for project reporting.
• Provide technical mentorship, training and on‑the‑job coaching for health workers on SRH interventions, including MISP, family planning counseling, EmONC and GBV survivor care.
• Develop and disseminate health education materials related to SRH.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience managing sexual and reproductive health programmes in humanitarian settings.
• Familiarity with UNFPA, WHO standards, national SRH protocols and IRC operational guidelines.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑stakeholder projects, develop work plans and monitor implementation.
• Experience conducting field supervision, providing technical mentorship and capacity‑building for health workers.
• Strong analytical skills to identify gaps, develop corrective actions and document project outcomes.
