Communications & Public Relations Intern

About the role

A company based in Somalia is looking for a passionate, detail-oriented Public Relations and Communications Intern to support its communications team. The internship covers brand building, internal and external communications, media relations and digital content, giving hands-on experience in corporate communications, public relations, branding and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Draft press releases, media statements, speeches and corporate communications
• Create content for social media, newsletters, blogs and the company website
• Monitor media coverage and prepare media monitoring reports
• Coordinate interviews, press conferences and corporate events
• Maintain relationships with media partners, stakeholders and clients
• Support internal communication initiatives and staff engagement activities
• Develop communication materials, presentations and reports
• Track projects, deadlines and follow up on action items
• Research industry trends, media opportunities and competitor activity
• Keep brand messaging consistent across all platforms

Required profile

• Currently studying or recently graduated with a diploma or degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Corporate Communication, Media Studies, Marketing or a related field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
• Creative thinking with strong attention to detail
• Good organisational and project coordination skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
