Education Assistant – National Role in Lascanood

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking an Education Assistant to support the implementation of education programmes in Lascanood, Somalia. The role focuses on facilitating enrolment, monitoring school activities, and ensuring that learning materials and payments are managed in line with NRC standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Community Education Committees to identify and enrol pupils, especially girls, IDPs and vulnerable children.
• Prepare requisitions, distribute, and monitor the use of school learning materials.
• Track and report on project activities, costs, and payments for teachers and field staff.
• Conduct school assessments, monitor protection concerns, and provide support to NRC‑supported teachers.
• Translate learning materials from English to Somali and assist teachers in creating locally‑sourced teaching aids.
• Generate weekly, monthly and quarterly activity plans and costed reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience in education project implementation or school support.
• Female candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
