General Accountant – Finance & Accounting

About the role

The General Accountant will maintain accurate financial records, process daily accounting transactions, and support month‑end and year‑end close activities. This position works closely with the Accounting Manager and other finance team members to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Record and maintain financial transactions in the general ledger, including journal entries, accruals and reclassifications.
• Execute monthly, quarterly and year‑end closing procedures.
• Prepare and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts and bank statements.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Manage fixed‑asset registers, depreciation schedules and capitalization entries.
• Prepare financial statements and management reports.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations such as VAT, WHT and corporate tax.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation.
• Maintain proper documentation and filing of accounting records.
• Assist in payroll processing and related journal entries when required.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
• Contribute to process improvements and internal control implementation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of IFRS/GAAP accounting principles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as SAP, Oracle or QuickBooks.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP and complex formulas.
