Investment Manager – Somaliland

About the role

The Investment Manager will support Shuraako Capital’s mission to provide growth capital and support services to SMEs in fragile settings. Based in Hargeisa, the role focuses on identifying, assessing, and managing investment opportunities across Somaliland and the wider Horn of Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the on‑the‑ground representative for Shuraako Capital, building relationships with the business community, chambers of commerce, civil society, and government.
• Identify and evaluate prospective businesses through business‑plan reviews, financial analysis, modeling, market research, reference checks, and due diligence.
• Assess creditworthiness of owners and management, flagging investment and portfolio risks.
• Verify that financing requests align with eligible assets or business needs.
• Prepare investment appraisals and present opportunities to investment committees for approval.
• Monitor investee businesses, collect loan repayments, manage defaults, ensure compliance with Murabaha and technical agreements, and report on portfolio performance.

Required profile

• Highly organized, self‑motivated professional with excellent written and oral English communication.
• Solid understanding of the private‑sector landscape in the Somali region.
• Ability to work independently on‑site and represent Shuraako Capital to diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• Financial analysis and financial modeling.
• Market research and due diligence.
• Credit and risk assessment.
• Knowledge of Sharia‑compliant financing structures (e.g., Murabaha).
