Procurement & Logistics Officer

About the role

The Procurement & Logistics Officer will manage end‑to‑end procurement processes and oversee logistics operations for Lifeline Gedo’s humanitarian programmes in Somalia. This full‑time, on‑site position ensures that goods and services are sourced, delivered, and distributed efficiently and in compliance with donor and organisational policies.

Key responsibilities

• Plan procurement needs, prepare purchase orders and source appropriate suppliers.
• Evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts and ensure value for money.
• Maintain accurate procurement documentation and track deliveries.
• Oversee transportation, warehousing, inventory management and distribution of supplies to project sites.
• Resolve issues related to quality, timelines and costs.
• Collaborate with program, finance and field teams to guarantee timely availability of resources.

Required profile

• Relevant diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration or related field.
• Strong procurement experience, including planning, execution and purchase order management.
• Demonstrated ability in supplier evaluation and contract negotiation.
• Solid analytical skills for bid assessment, market monitoring and data‑driven decisions.
• Knowledge of logistics operations in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Understanding of donor and NGO procurement regulations with a commitment to transparency.
• Ability to work in challenging field environments and collaborate with diverse teams.
• Prior experience in Somalia or similar settings is an advantage; fluency in English required, Somali language skills highly beneficial.
