Programme Officer – Child Protection & Rights Governance

About the role

The Programme Officer will support the planning, implementation, monitoring and quality delivery of child protection and child rights governance interventions under the NORAD framework in community‑based projects across Puntland, Somalia. The role ensures meaningful engagement of children, caregivers, communities and local authorities to strengthen protection systems and promote child participation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing and executing child protection and child rights governance activities.
• Monitor project progress and ensure compliance with Save the Children standards, national policies and international frameworks.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including children, families, community groups and local authorities.
• Support the development and strengthening of community‑based child protection systems.
• Promote child participation and advocate for children’s rights in project areas.
• Contribute to reporting, documentation and learning processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, law, development studies, community development, human rights, education or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in child protection, child rights governance or community‑based programming in humanitarian or development settings.
• Experience working with children, communities, local authorities and civil‑society organisations.
• Understanding of child rights, protection principles, safeguarding and community‑based approaches.
