Research Assistant (Consultancy) – Somalia

About the role

Africa's Voices Foundation is seeking a Research Assistant on a consultancy basis to support its programmes in Somalia. The role is onsite, requires immediate availability, and will be compensated at a daily rate of USD 50 inclusive of tax. Fluency in Somali and English is essential.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews to inform project design and strategy.
• Code, tag, and analyse local‑language data collected from communities.
• Perform qualitative analysis of Somali‑language interview and focus‑group transcripts.
• Support overall programme monitoring, reporting, and evidence synthesis.

Required profile

• Fluent in both Somali and English (written and spoken).
• Available to start immediately and work on an as‑needed basis.
• Background in social sciences, development research, or related fields.
• Experience with qualitative data collection and analysis.

Required skills

• Data coding and tagging of textual material.
