Web Developer Intern (WordPress)

About the role

A Web Developer Intern is sought to join a team and gain hands-on experience in WordPress website development. The intern supports the web development team in building, maintaining and optimizing websites while learning industry best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in WordPress website development and customization projects
• Support website content uploads, updates and maintenance
• Perform website testing, troubleshooting and debugging
• Learn and apply WordPress development standards and best practices
• Assist in performance optimization and user experience improvements
• Support plugin installation, configuration and updates
• Help prepare project documentation and progress reports
• Collaborate with designers, developers and project teams

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field
• Willingness to learn web development tools and technologies
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of WordPress CMS
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript
• Understanding of website design principles and responsive design
• Added advantage: experience on personal, academic or freelance WordPress projects; basic PHP and MySQL; page builders such as Elementor, WPBakery or Gutenberg; SEO fundamentals
