Somali Language Specialist – Remote (Hourly)

About the role

We are seeking a native or near‑native Somali speaker to join our team remotely on an hourly basis. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality and cultural relevance of Somali language content used in AI and natural language processing projects.

Key responsibilities

• Review, edit, and validate Somali language content for accuracy and clarity.
• Translate content between Somali and English while preserving context and cultural nuance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to annotate, evaluate, and improve language datasets.
• Provide linguistic feedback to enhance AI and NLP outputs.
• Identify and correct grammatical, spelling, and contextual errors.
• Maintain consistency and quality across all written and verbal deliverables.
• Offer cultural insights to improve relevance for Somali‑speaking audiences.

Required profile

• Native or near‑native proficiency in Somali with strong written and verbal skills.
• Proven experience in editing, proofreading, and translation.
• Deep understanding of Somali grammar, syntax, and language conventions.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in linguistic tasks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
