Project Coordinator – Jowhar, Somalia

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a Project Coordinator to lead the implementation of the KOBAC project in Jowhar, Somalia. The role will serve as the primary liaison with municipal and state authorities, ensuring that project activities are coordinated, delivered on time, and aligned with government priorities and community needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the field‑level implementation of the KOBAC project in Jowhar.
• Act as the main focal point for engagement with municipal and state authorities.
• Ensure compliance with NRC policies, donor requirements, and grant management processes.
• Support programme development, reporting, and monitoring in line with donor expectations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with NRC staff, government bodies, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Liaise with national‑level government stakeholders to promote accountability and ownership.
• Coordinate internal and external partners to achieve timely project deliverables.
• Provide guidance to senior technical staff on donor rules, regulations, and requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified candidates, with a particular encouragement for female applicants.
• Experience in coordinating humanitarian projects, preferably in multi‑sectoral contexts (shelter, education, livelihoods, cash‑based interventions, WASH, ICLA).
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, grant management, and project cycle management.
• Proven ability to work effectively with government authorities and build ownership.
• Excellent relationship‑building and coordination skills.
