Quality Assurance & Accreditation Specialist

About the role

The Quality Assurance & Accreditation Specialist will support the core team of the EU‑funded Higher Education System Strengthening Project II – Somalia. The role focuses on strengthening the capacity of Somalia’s higher‑education system through the development, implementation and monitoring of quality assurance and accreditation mechanisms.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and roll‑out national quality assurance frameworks for higher education institutions.
• Design and conduct institutional audits, self‑assessments and external evaluations.
• Train QA officers and assist universities in establishing dedicated QA units.
• Ensure alignment with international and African QA standards and accreditation bodies.
• Provide technical guidance and support to universities throughout the project period.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in education, quality assurance, institutional management or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in higher‑education quality assurance and accreditation.
• Proven experience developing and implementing national QA frameworks.
• Direct experience conducting audits, self‑assessments and external evaluations.
• Track record of training QA staff and establishing QA units within universities.
• Familiarity with international and African QA standards and accreditation bodies.
• Fluency in English; Somali language skills are a strong asset.
