Chemist / Senior Chemist – Laboratory

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Chemist or Senior Chemist to join our laboratory team at BASF. The role focuses on developing new applications and products that meet business needs while providing technical support to customers across the Asia‑Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute laboratory innovation projects, including literature review, trial setup and patent support.
• Lead the development and launch of new products and applications.
• Document experiments, compile test results and generate reports.
• Provide on‑site and off‑site technical support for customer projects.
• Collaborate with sales, marketing and technology teams to address business requirements, product analysis and training.
• Assist technology teams with plant optimization, process troubleshooting and analytics.
• Ensure compliance with BASF safety standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Materials Science.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience, preferably in polyurethane, epoxy, coatings or metalworking fluids.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in multicultural, cross‑functional teams.
• Fluent in English; Mandarin speaking and writing preferred.
• Proven analytical, project‑management and problem‑solving abilities.
