About the role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks a dynamic Country Director to lead its operations in Somalia. Reporting to the Regional Vice President for East Africa, the Director will shape strategy, oversee programs, and represent IRC with key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Define and implement IRC’s overall strategy, ensuring high‑quality, client‑focused delivery across humanitarian, recovery, and development programs.
- Lead and coach senior managers, fostering a collaborative and safe work environment.
- Engage with government officials, donors, UN agencies, civil society, and media to advance IRC’s mission.
- Oversee grant and financial management, compliance, and timely reporting.
- Manage risk and ensure effective resource stewardship.
- Contribute to IRC’s public advocacy and external affairs.
Required profile
- Proven senior leadership experience in complex humanitarian or development settings.
- Strong communication, partnership‑building, and risk‑management skills.
- Ability to supervise and mentor senior staff.
- Legal right to work in the posting country and willingness to relocate.
