Finance Assistant – BRCiS (Mogadishu)

About the role

The Finance Assistant supports the day‑to‑day implementation of NRC’s finance function for the BRCiS programme in Somalia, ensuring compliance with policies and accurate financial management.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
• Implement the delegated finance function portfolio according to the action plan.
• Monitor costs in the financial system, flag discrepancies, and maintain various financial trackers (travel, consultant, consortium payments, contact lists).
• Process payments to consortium partners, auditors and service providers, and maintain the filing system for all financial documents.
• Prepare status reports for management and promote ideas for improvement of the finance function.

Required profile

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in finance or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline.
• Experience in a humanitarian or INGO context is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of financial reporting systems and accounting practices.
• Experience with relevant financial software.
