Gender & Social Inclusion Advisor (Junior) – Somalia

About the role

The Gender & Social Inclusion Advisor will join the core team of the EU‑funded Higher Education System Strengthening Project II in Somalia. Working from Mogadishu, you will help strengthen the capacity of the higher education system to ensure coordinated, regulated, and sustainable interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement gender and social‑inclusion strategies within the project.
• Conduct gender analyses and develop policies and action plans to address inequities.
• Design and deliver training and awareness campaigns on gender equality and inclusion.
• Support the project team in meeting international standards and donor requirements on gender and inclusion.
• Provide technical guidance on barriers faced by women, youth, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups in accessing education.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in gender studies, sociology, social work, development or a related field.
• Training in gender mainstreaming and social inclusion.
• Understanding of barriers faced by women, youth, persons with disabilities and marginalized groups.
• At least 5 years of experience designing and implementing gender and social‑inclusion strategies in development programmes.
• Experience conducting gender analyses and developing related policies and action plans.
• Experience designing and delivering training and awareness campaigns on gender equality and inclusion.
• Familiarity with international standards and donor requirements on gender and inclusion.
