Global Category Buyer – Intermediates & Renewables

About the role

The Global Category Buyer for Intermediates & Renewables will join BASF's Direct Procurement team, responsible for securing chemical raw materials worldwide. You will develop and execute sourcing strategies, negotiate high‑value contracts and ensure a sustainable supply for internal business partners.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to global category procurement strategies and provide market insights to regional managers.
• Prepare and execute Request for Quotation (RfQ) processes, evaluate offers and lead negotiations.
• Award contracts, implement and monitor contract performance.
• Manage supplier relationships, monitor category risks and drive cost‑saving initiatives.
• Lead sourcing projects and support cross‑functional teams on category‑related topics.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic sourcing or category management, preferably in chemicals or related industries.
• Strong analytical abilities and understanding of market dynamics.
• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to influence internal stakeholders.
• Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
