Grants Writer

About the role

The Grants Writer will join United Youth for Peace & Human Rights in Mogadishu on a full‑time, on‑site basis. This role is responsible for creating compelling grant proposals that secure funding for the organization’s peace, equality, and human‑rights programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and research potential funding opportunities aligned with UYPHR’s mission.
• Draft, tailor, and submit grant applications in collaboration with program teams.
• Maintain grant calendars, track submission deadlines, and keep accurate records of proposals, awards, and reporting requirements.
• Prepare donor reports and support fundraising communications as needed.

Required profile

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Somali proficiency is an asset.
• Excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, and capacity to manage multiple deadlines.
• Experience in non‑profit, humanitarian, or human‑rights settings; familiarity with youth‑led initiatives is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, International Relations, Development Studies, or equivalent practical experience.
