Head of Mission Support (AUSSOM)

About the role

The African Union seeks a senior professional to lead Mission Support for the AU Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). Reporting to the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the Commission, the Head of Mission Support will ensure that all logistical, administrative and operational services are delivered efficiently in a high‑risk, field‑based environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and hands‑on oversight of logistics, supply chain, transport, aviation support, engineering, ICT and administrative services.
• Manage day‑to‑day mission support activities in remote and austere locations, guaranteeing continuous availability of fuel, rations, water, accommodation, medical evacuation readiness, communications and mobility.
• Advise the SRCC on mission support, logistics and operational sustainment matters, delivering real‑time assessments and actionable recommendations.
• Plan and execute complex logistical operations, including convoy movements and air tasking requests.
• Coordinate with local and national authorities to maintain smooth administrative relations.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional (P5 grade) with proven experience in mission support or large‑scale logistics operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams in high‑risk, field‑based settings.
• Willingness to work onsite in Mogadishu and travel to remote locations as required.
