Interventional Cardiologist

About the role

The Interventional Cardiologist will lead high‑volume cardiac catheterisation procedures, providing expert care for acute coronary syndromes, complex percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and structural heart interventions. The role requires independent decision‑making in emergency and elective settings within a multidisciplinary cardiac centre.

Key responsibilities

• Manage acute coronary syndrome patients, including STEMI, NSTEMI and unstable angina.
• Perform diagnostic coronary angiography and therapeutic PCI (primary and elective) via radial or femoral access.
• Execute advanced techniques such as IVUS, OCT, FFR, and structural interventions.
• Provide temporary pacing, pericardiocentesis, and pacemaker implantation where trained.
• Interpret ECGs and echocardiograms, assess haemodynamics, and ensure radiation and contrast safety.
• Lead post‑PCI care, code‑blue response, and coordinate with ICU, ER, anaesthesia and cardiac surgery teams.
• Maintain cath‑lab quality standards and manage complications.

Required profile

• MBBS/MD or equivalent with postgraduate qualification in Internal Medicine/Cardiology (MD + DM Cardiology, DNB Cardiology, MRCP + CCT, Arab Board, Fellowship).
• Fellowship in interventional cardiology and at least 7 years of experience after cardiology qualification.
• Extensive high‑volume cath‑lab experience, including complex PCI and primary PCI.
