Post-doc R&D Scientist

About the role

We are seeking a motivated post‑doctoral researcher to join our R&D team at BASF. The role focuses on developing technical solutions for polymer‑related projects, particularly in polyurethane dispersion (PUD) synthesis and water‑based coating or adhesive applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments to develop new synthesis methods and analytical procedures.
• Translate project objectives into detailed work plans for the laboratory team.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, documenting results and preparing patent filings.
• Monitor scientific literature, patents and market trends to inform research directions.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to align research activities and meet project milestones, timelines and budgets.
• Present findings to stakeholders and contribute to the generation of new research ideas.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, preferably with a focus on polymers.
• Hands‑on experience in polyurethane dispersion (PUD) synthesis.
• Familiarity with water‑based coating or adhesive technologies is advantageous.
• Fluent English communication skills (reading, writing and presenting).
