Safe & Inclusive Programming (SIP) Technical Officer

About the role

The Safe & Inclusive Programming (SIP) Technical Officer provides technical support and oversight to ensure protection, safeguarding, inclusion and accountability are effectively integrated across NRC education projects in Somalia.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate cross‑sectoral collaboration with Child Protection, GBV and other relevant clusters.
• Lead gender and inclusion analysis and support partners in implementing gender‑sensitive and child safeguarding interventions.
• Train consortium and partner staff on gender mainstreaming, child safeguarding and inclusive education practices.
• Track and maintain the SIP checklist, follow up on SIP recommendations and ensure compliance with NRC safeguarding policies.
• Act as focal point for safe and timely referrals, case coaching and follow‑up on safeguarding complaints.
• Facilitate workshops on psychosocial support, non‑violent communication, and disability‑inclusive teaching.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in safeguarding and inclusion within NGOs or humanitarian agencies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Rights, Protection, Development Studies, Social Studies, International Relations or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience working in the Somali humanitarian context.
• Excellent English communication skills for negotiation, networking and workshop facilitation.

Required skills

• Strong ICT proficiency, especially MS Office applications.
• Experience in maintaining databases and managing information.
