Anticipatory Action Coordinator – W4R Project

About the role

The Anticipatory Action Coordinator will lead the W4R anticipatory action component in Somalia, ensuring high‑quality implementation, stakeholder coordination and compliance with donor and safeguarding standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the overall W4R anticipatory action project, delivering on objectives, workplans and budgets.
• Promote awareness and uptake of anticipatory action approaches, especially the displacement forecasting model, among government, UN agencies, partners and communities.
• Monitor progress, identify risks and implement corrective actions to maintain project quality and accountability.
• Conduct regular field visits to verify technical quality and operational compliance.
• Work with the MEAL team to ensure accurate data collection, indicator tracking and documentation of results.
• Support learning by analysing monitoring data, preparing success stories and visibility materials.
• Lead development of anticipatory action plans, readiness actions, trigger mechanisms and evidence‑generation frameworks using a participatory, localization‑focused approach.
• Strengthen early warning systems and trigger development in collaboration with duty‑bearers and in‑country partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing humanitarian projects, preferably with anticipatory action components.
• Familiarity with displacement forecasting models and early warning systems.
• Strong understanding of humanitarian principles, donor compliance, security and safeguarding standards.
• Ability to represent the programme with local authorities, partners and coordination platforms.
