Contingent Owned Equipment Officer

About the role

The Contingent Owned Equipment (COE) Officer supports the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) by managing the mission’s COE and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) programmes. Reporting to the Chief of Administrative Services, the officer ensures that equipment and self‑sustainment contributions from Troop and Police Contributing Countries are inspected, verified, and accounted for in a high‑risk field environment.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and manage the COE and MOU programmes in line with AU policies and reimbursement frameworks.
• Conduct arrival, operational readiness, periodic and repatriation inspections of contingent‑owned equipment.
• Monitor compliance of equipment and self‑sustainment arrangements against agreed MOUs.
• Prepare verification reports, inspection schedules, reimbursement documentation and respond to audit observations.
• Maintain up‑to‑date COE records, databases and electronic management systems.

Required profile

• Experience in logistics or equipment management within international or peace‑keeping missions.
• Familiarity with AU policies, procedures and MOU implementation.
• Ability to conduct inspections, verify equipment status and produce accurate reports.
• Strong attention to detail and accountability in a complex field setting.
