Information Management Officer – WASH Cluster

About the role

The Information Management Officer will lead the WASH Cluster’s data strategy in Somalia, ensuring accurate collection, analysis, and dissemination of information to support humanitarian response. This position works closely with government, UN agencies, NGOs, and other partners to improve data‑driven decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the WASH Cluster information management strategy and data collection plan.
• Manage national and sub‑national monitoring tools and databases, including 3W, 4W, and 5W systems.
• Produce dashboards, maps, charts, infographics, situation updates, and narrative reports.
• Maintain partner presence mapping and ensure timely, complete, and accurate reporting by WASH partners.
• Coordinate with OCHA, SWALIM, other clusters, and inter‑agency information management working groups.
• Support Financial Tracking Service reporting and evidence‑based advocacy.
• Strengthen partner and government information‑management capacity through training and technical support.
• Assist with WASH supply planning, stock tracking, distribution reporting, and post‑distribution monitoring.

Required profile

• Minimum seven (7) years of professional experience in information management, data management, GIS, monitoring & evaluation, or a related field.
• Fluent English; Swahili proficiency is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a humanitarian setting.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data handling using CSV, KoBoToolbox, Microsoft Access or comparable platforms.
• Ability to create dashboards and visual products with Power BI, Tableau or similar software.
• Experience creating basic and advanced maps using ArcGIS or QGIS.
• Solid skills in data cleaning, validation, analysis, and presentation of quantitative and qualitative data.
