Meal Specialist – Market System Development (W4R)

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council seeks a Meal Specialist to lead monitoring, learning and adaptive management for Market System Development (MSD) interventions. You will design and apply MEL approaches that track adoption, assess partner performance, and generate actionable insights for decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct MSD MEL capacity assessments and develop strengthening plans for MEAL and program staff.
• Review and improve existing MEL systems, including institutional platforms and technology.
• Provide technical advisory, troubleshoot implementation challenges, and ensure consistent, high‑quality MEL practice.
• Design and facilitate applied learning sessions on core MSD MEL concepts such as systemic change, results chains, and adaptive management.
• Coach and mentor individuals and small groups to close identified skill gaps.
• Integrate MEL tools with DRC’s institutional systems across the program portfolio.
• Support the development of results frameworks, key performance indicators, and measurement systems for partnerships.
• Lead and manage the Monitoring & Evaluation team, overseeing performance, well‑being, and development.
• Coordinate all aspects of M&E processes, conduct market systems assessments, and perform field visits for data verification.

Required profile

• Proven experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong ability to lead capacity‑building initiatives and provide hands‑on technical support.
• Excellent analytical skills with a focus on evidence‑based decision‑making.
• Adaptable, collaborative mindset and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
