Operations Specialist

About the role

The Operations Specialist will support UNICEF’s country office in Baidoa by ensuring efficient and value‑for‑money delivery of core operational services. This role contributes to programme success by providing risk‑informed analysis and advice across finance, logistics, ICT, HR and facilities management.

Key responsibilities

• Manage budget preparation, financial reporting and ensure compliance with UNICEF financial policies.
• Oversee procurement, supply chain and logistics activities to meet programme needs while adhering to value‑for‑money criteria.
• Coordinate facilities management, including accessibility, eco‑sustainability and security of office premises.
• Support ICT management, information security controls and promote best practices.
• Provide HR administrative support, staff development opportunities and contribute to performance management processes.
• Assist senior management with risk monitoring, audit responses and results‑based management reporting.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent experience in business administration, finance, logistics or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in operational support within an international organization or NGO.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to propose creative, cost‑effective solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of financial management and reporting standards.
• Understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.
• Familiarity with ICT governance and information security principles.
• Experience in facilities and safety management.
