Remote Medical Coder

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to ensure accurate reimbursement and compliance for complex patient records.

Key responsibilities

• Review patient records and assign appropriate ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4 or SNOMED CT codes.
• Ensure coding complies with federal, state, NHS or payer guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps and query clinicians for clarification.
• Correct coding errors, resolve claim denials and optimize reimbursement.
• Maintain high data integrity and participate in audits.
• Stay current with coding guideline updates and regulatory changes.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC/AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK credential.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pharmacology.
• Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web or SystmOne.
• Excellent attention to detail and pattern recognition.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+), high‑speed internet and backup power supply.
• Quiet, secure workspace compliant with HIPAA/GDPR.
