Legal Aid Officer – Law SQE (Mogadishu)

About the role

The company is seeking a Legal Aid Officer to provide preliminary legal assistance in Mogadishu. This full‑time, on‑site position supports civil, administrative and other casework under supervision, offering a valuable opportunity to develop practical law skills in a challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and analyse relevant statutes and case law.
• Assist in drafting legal documents such as contracts, letters, briefs and client communications.
• Prepare opinions, reports and case summaries for senior lawyers.
• Organise case files, maintain accurate records and ensure proper documentation.
• Coordinate with local stakeholders, partner organisations and NGOs to facilitate case progress.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent qualification; SQE preparation or completion is an advantage.
• Strong foundation in legal principles and ability to interpret applicable legal frameworks.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in legal consulting, legal aid, or humanitarian projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts to non‑specialists.
• Ability to work on‑site in Mogadishu and adapt to local conditions.
