Gender & Social Inclusion Advisor (Junior) – Somalia Project

About the role

The Gender & Social Inclusion Advisor (Junior) will support the implementation of the EU‑funded Higher Education System Strengthening Project II in Somalia. Working from Mogadishu, you will help strengthen the capacity of the higher education system to ensure inclusive coordination, regulation and sustainability of interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement gender and social‑inclusion strategies aligned with project objectives.
• Conduct gender analyses, develop policies and action plans to address inequities in higher education.
• Deliver training sessions and awareness campaigns on gender equality and inclusion for project staff and partners.
• Monitor compliance with international standards and donor requirements on gender and inclusion.
• Provide technical advice to the core team on barriers faced by women, youth, persons with disabilities and other marginalised groups.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in gender studies, sociology, social work, development or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience designing and implementing gender and social‑inclusion strategies in development programmes.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting gender analyses and developing related policies and action plans.
• Proven ability to design and deliver training and awareness activities on gender equality.
• Familiarity with international standards and donor requirements on gender and inclusion.

Required skills

• Training in gender mainstreaming and social inclusion.
• Understanding of barriers faced by women, youth, persons with disabilities and marginalised groups in accessing education.
