Area Manager

About the role

The Area Manager will lead the design, delivery and quality of DRC programmes in South Central Somalia. Reporting to senior management, the AM ensures compliance with DRC policies, safety protocols and strategic objectives while representing the organisation to partners and authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and oversee programme implementation across protection, emergency response, livelihood and area‑based activities.
• Develop and enforce safety procedures to protect staff and assets in the region.
• Manage administration, HR, finance, supply‑chain and field operations to ensure readiness for emergencies.
• Coordinate with donors, UN agencies, NGOs and government officials to align DRC activities with national and international priorities.
• Lead the Multi‑Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) portfolio and mobile emergency response teams.
• Ensure effective targeting of vulnerable, conflict‑affected and displaced populations.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in humanitarian programme management or similar field operations.
• Strong leadership and coordination skills with the ability to represent DRC at high‑level forums.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement safety and security protocols.
• Experience managing HR, finance and supply‑chain functions in challenging environments.
