Critical Care Consultant ICU and ER Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Critical Care Consultant to lead the management of critically ill patients in both the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Emergency Department (ER). The role involves delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based care to a mixed medical‑surgical population.

Key responsibilities

• Manage critically ill patients in ICU and ER, including airway assessment and intubation.
• Provide mechanical and non‑invasive ventilation, shock and sepsis management.
• Stabilize trauma patients and lead cardiac arrest resuscitations.
• Activate stroke pathways and perform central venous and arterial line insertions.
• Conduct ultrasound‑guided procedures and support chest drain decisions.
• Oversee sedation, analgesia, vasopressor therapy, fluid resuscitation, and blood transfusion safety.
• Implement antimicrobial stewardship and maintain comprehensive ICU documentation.
• Perform triage, admission/discharge assessments, and end‑of‑life communication.
• Coordinate care with all clinical departments and multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• MBBS/MD or equivalent with postgraduate qualification in Critical Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, Pulmonology, or related field.
• Recognized ICU/critical care training and a valid specialist or consultant license (or eligibility).
• Minimum 7 years of experience after postgraduate qualification, with substantial ICU and emergency care exposure.
• Preferred: Fellowship in Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care or Acute Medicine; certifications such as ACLS, ATLS, PALS, FCCS.
