About the role

UNICEF is seeking Education Officers to support the Joint Resilience Programme (JRP) in Galmudug, Somalia. The officers will work from Dhuusamareeb and Gaalkacyo, collaborating with the Ministry of Education, WFP, implementing partners and local communities to improve access to quality, inclusive and resilient education for children affected by conflict and climate‑related shocks.

Key responsibilities

  • Support planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of JRP education activities across 51 schools.
  • Coordinate with education authorities, WFP, partners, schools and Community Education Committees.
  • Collect, verify and analyse programme, school and beneficiary data for internal and donor reporting.
  • Conduct field monitoring visits, identify gaps and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Prepare workplans, technical briefs, monitoring reports and programme updates.
  • Provide technical and operational support for gender‑responsive, risk‑informed education programming.
  • Mobilise communities to increase enrolment, attendance, retention and reintegration of out‑of‑school children.
  • Strengthen engagement with parents, teachers, local leaders, women, youth and displaced communities.
  • Coordinate with health, nutrition and other sectors to create referral pathways for vulnerable families.

Required profile

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in education programming, community mobilisation, or community‑based programme implementation.
  • Experience working with government counterparts, schools and community structures.
  • Proven ability in programme data collection, verification, analysis and technical reporting.
  • Strong communication, coordination and problem‑solving skills in a multicultural, field‑based environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration, Development Studies or a related field.
  • Fluent in English and native Somali.
