Gender & Social Inclusion Advisor (Junior) – Mogadishu

About the role

The Gender & Social Inclusion Advisor will support the Higher Education System Strengthening Project II in Somalia, working closely with the core implementation team to embed gender equality and social inclusion throughout project activities. This junior‑level position is based in Mogadishu and focuses on enhancing access to higher education for women, youth, persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement gender and social‑inclusion strategies aligned with EU donor requirements.
• Conduct gender analyses and produce policy recommendations and action plans.
• Design and deliver training sessions and awareness campaigns on gender equality and inclusion for project staff and partners.
• Monitor and report on gender‑related indicators, ensuring compliance with international standards.
• Provide technical advice to stakeholders on removing barriers to education for vulnerable groups.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in gender studies, sociology, social work, development or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience designing and implementing gender and social‑inclusion components in development programmes.
• Demonstrated experience conducting gender analyses and drafting policies or action plans.
• Proven ability to design and facilitate training and awareness activities.
• Familiarity with international donor standards on gender and inclusion.
