Head of Project Unit

About the role

The Head of the Project Unit will lead the planning, delivery and monitoring of UNOPS projects supporting UNMAS. This senior position ensures that project outcomes align with UNOPS standards and contribute to the organization’s reputation as a trusted development partner.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic input to programme and project design, including vision, mission, logical frameworks, risk analysis and resource mobilisation.
• Develop and oversee implementation plans, ensuring realistic timelines, appropriate resource allocation and compliance with UNOPS policies.
• Manage project delivery, including oversight of third‑party contractors and grantees, and report risks to the PSC New York Office.
• Support the CMAP in applying Humanitarian Programme Cycle policies and monitoring mechanisms.
• Ensure collection and use of sex‑, age‑ and disability‑disaggregated data for reporting.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in project management within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong understanding of UNOPS financial, procurement, contract and grant management rules.
• Ability to coordinate multi‑stakeholder programmes and drive results under tight deadlines.
