Legal & Regulatory Consultant (Part‑time) – Somaliland

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time Legal & Regulatory Consultant to act as the local legal advisor for our mining and corporate operations in Somaliland. The role is hybrid, combining on‑site presence with coordination with our Hong Kong Legal & Compliance Department. You will ensure full compliance with Somaliland laws, government regulations, contractual obligations, and internal governance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on all local statutes affecting mining and foreign investment.
• Monitor and interpret new legislation and regulatory developments.
• Advise management on legal risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Support corporate governance initiatives and internal compliance protocols.
• Track changes in labor, immigration, taxation, environmental and corporate registration regulations.
• Assist in obtaining, renewing, and maintaining permits, licenses, and approvals.
• Conduct internal compliance reviews and legal risk assessments.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial, government, service, procurement and vendor agreements.
• Support dispute prevention and resolution efforts.

Required profile

• Qualified legal professional with substantial experience in mining, corporate, and regulatory law.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple legal matters.
• Strong understanding of Somaliland legal framework and foreign investment regulations.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with senior management and international legal teams.
