Postdoc Position in Minimising the Environmental Impact of Cleaning

About the role
This two‑year postdoctoral position focuses on reducing the environmental footprint of Cleaning‑in‑Place (CIP) processes used in membrane manufacturing for food processing. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team that combines experimental work with data‑driven modelling to optimise energy, water and chemical usage.
Key responsibilities
- Design and conduct pilot‑scale and laboratory experiments to investigate cleaning mechanisms.
- Generate high‑quality data sets under controlled conditions for model development.
- Develop and validate physics‑based and data‑driven models of CIP processes.
- Collaborate with industrial partners to integrate manufacturing data into modelling efforts.
- Contribute to scientific publications and present findings at conferences.
Required profile
- PhD (or near completion) in bioprocessing, food science, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated research productivity in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills in English.
- Experience supervising junior researchers is desirable.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Python, R or Matlab for data analysis and modelling.
- Knowledge of membrane cleaning processes.
- Familiarity with Process Analytical Technology (PAT) concepts.
