About the role
The Danish Refugee Council is seeking an experienced Anticipatory Action (AA) Project Manager to lead the AHEAD project in Somalia. Based in Mogadishu, you will provide strategic, technical and operational leadership to ensure high‑quality implementation of AA programmes aligned with DRC’s global strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the national technical focal point for AA, aligning activities with DRC’s global AA strategy, country priorities and donor requirements.
- Coordinate with national, regional and global AA teams to integrate anticipatory action across DRC programmes and promote cross‑learning.
- Facilitate awareness and uptake of AA approaches among government authorities, UN agencies, local partners and community structures, emphasizing the use of the AHEAD displacement forecasting model.
- Represent DRC’s AA portfolio in humanitarian coordination platforms, including the Humanitarian Country Team and relevant clusters.
- Lead the design, development and implementation of anticipatory action plans, readiness actions, trigger mechanisms and evidence‑generation frameworks using a participatory, bottom‑up approach.
- Oversee early warning systems, trigger development and operational AA plans, ensuring compliance with humanitarian principles and conflict‑sensitivity.
- Provide technical leadership and operational oversight for all AA project activities, ensuring timely, high‑quality delivery.
Required profile
- Proven experience in managing anticipatory action or similar humanitarian programmes.
- Strong understanding of early warning systems, displacement forecasting and trigger mechanisms.
- Ability to work collaboratively with government, UN agencies, NGOs and community stakeholders.
- Commitment to humanitarian principles, including impartiality, neutrality and ‘do no harm’.
