Project Manager – Hunger Relief & Resilience Initiative (Garowe)

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the New Zealand‑funded Hunger Relief & Resilience Initiative in Garowe, Somalia, overseeing integrated programmes that combine food security, livelihoods, cash assistance, climate‑smart agriculture, water systems and disaster risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic leadership and technical oversight for resilience, food security, livelihoods, cash assistance, TVET, DRM, water systems, livestock and economic empowerment interventions.
• Lead project planning, implementation, monitoring and adaptation to ensure delivery of approved outputs and outcomes.
• Coordinate vulnerability‑based targeting, registration, beneficiary verification and enrolment processes.
• Oversee conditional and unconditional cash‑for‑asset programmes and cash assistance delivery.
• Strengthen community institutions such as VSLAs, producer organisations, farmer field schools, water user committees and disaster management committees.
• Ensure participatory implementation that reflects community priorities and accountability mechanisms.
• Facilitate coordination with ministries, district authorities, WFP, FAO, NGOs, community leaders and private‑sector actors.
• Maintain donor compliance, safeguarding standards and World Vision operational procedures.
• Provide technical leadership for climate‑smart agriculture, livestock, water systems, livelihood diversification and market systems development, including demonstration farms and irrigation schemes.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing multi‑sector humanitarian or development projects.
• Strong knowledge of resilience‑building, food security, climate‑smart agriculture and cash assistance mechanisms.
• Ability to work effectively with donors, government agencies and community partners.
• Excellent monitoring, reporting and results‑oriented management skills.
• Fluency in English and ability to operate in a challenging field environment.
