Risk Analyst (Human Rights Due Diligence Policy) - Mogadishu

About the role

The Risk Analyst (HRDDP) is a key member of the Risk Profiling and Analysis team within the Risk Management Unit (RMU) of the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Somalia, based in Mogadishu. The RMU supports the Resident Coordinator in overseeing the implementation of the UN Human Rights Due Diligence Policy (HRDDP) across UN agencies, funds and programmes' support to non-UN security forces and institutions and in procurement processes. The post reports to the Risk Management Specialist and the Chief of RMU.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate information and data collection, analysis and compilation on HRDDP implementation by UN agencies, funds and programmes (AFPs) supporting non-UN security forces and institutions, and follow up on mitigation measures.
• Monitor, research, collect, verify, analyse and synthesise information on HRDDP, including from open sources, UN entities and recipients of support.
• Lead engagement with HRDDP focal points in AFPs, support mapping of recipients of support and advise on implementation and monitoring of mitigation measures.
• Advise stakeholders, including security actors, on the prevention of and response to violations of international human rights or humanitarian law.
• Draft reports, briefings and communications on HRDDP in line with established standards, integrating UN methodology and a gender perspective.
• Assess Somalia's evolving risk landscape and update risk profiles and reports in line with the SOP on HRDDP implementation in Somalia.
• Support the strategy, policies, protocols and guidelines for risk profiling and analysis, and contribute to policy advice.
• Build relationships with UN entities, governments and civil society, and support capacity building and knowledge sharing on HRDDP.
• Maintain high ethical standards for information management, ensuring transparency, authenticity and consistency of data.
