Small Grants Programme Assistant - Mogadishu

About the role

The UNDP Small Grants Programme (SGP) is implemented on behalf of the Global Environment Facility and channels grants to NGOs and community-based organizations to address climate change, biodiversity conservation, protection of international waters, persistent organic pollutants and land degradation. This assistant supports the SGP National Coordinator in Mogadishu across programme implementation, finance and administration, and reports to the SGP National Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Help implement projects, screen and evaluate project proposals, and guide grantees on project preparation
• Support monitoring and evaluation, including field visits, and prepare annual monitoring surveys and reports
• Review and control interim and final financial reports, process payment requests and maintain the grant disbursement table and calendar
• Maintain the project and stakeholder databases, the petty cash account and the country operating budget
• Handle procurement, office organization, filing, event logistics and asset inventory
• Support knowledge management, communications, advocacy events and the SGP website

Required profile

• Secondary education, or a bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration or Environmental and Social Science; a certificate in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance is an advantage
• At least 5 years of administrative or programme experience with secondary education, or 2 years with a bachelor's degree
• Fluency in English and Somali; knowledge of other UN languages is an asset
• Experience reviewing documents, producing meeting reports, and using MS Word, Excel and web-based management systems is an asset
