Speech and Language Therapist

About the role

The Mustaqbal Center for Special Needs is seeking a full‑time Speech and Language Therapist to join its multidisciplinary team in Banaadir, Somalia. You will work directly with children who have speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties, providing evidence‑based assessment and treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders in children.
• Evaluate and manage dysphagia and other swallowing challenges.
• Design and deliver individualized therapy plans for both one‑on‑one and group sessions.
• Document progress, maintain accurate records, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, teachers, and other professionals to support holistic care and educational integration.
• Participate in awareness‑raising activities and capacity‑building initiatives for staff.
• Contribute to the development of communication support materials and strategies.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in Speech and Language Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a closely related field.
• Experience working with children with autism, developmental delays, or physical disabilities in clinical or educational settings.
• Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary, community‑based environment.
• Proficiency in spoken and written communication in local languages and/or English.
• Prior experience in humanitarian or NGO settings is an advantage.
