Project Manager – Infrastructure Projects

About the role

UNOPS Somalia is seeking a Project Manager to lead the delivery of infrastructure projects across sectors such as health, education, transport and water. The role is based in Mogadishu and reports to the Project Board, ensuring projects meet UNOPS standards for time, cost, quality and impact.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and update project implementation plans, establishing milestones and monitoring progress against agreed tolerances.
• Coordinate design reviews, manage external suppliers and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality work packages.
• Monitor project variances, manage changes and report risks, proposing mitigation measures to senior management.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, preparing communication plans and maintaining relationships with donors, partners and beneficiaries.
• Oversee quality assurance, audit compliance and documentation, and support project closure and hand‑over activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, water, electrical, mechanical, structural or related engineering discipline with at least 7 years of relevant infrastructure project experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 5 years of experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing infrastructure projects in developing or post‑conflict settings.
• Project‑management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMI) is desirable.
