Climate, Nature & Green Transition Strategy Research Fellowship (2026‑2027)

About the role

The Green Finance & Climate Strategy Institute (GFCSI), in partnership with Somalia's Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, invites applications for the 2026‑2027 Climate, Nature & Green Transition Strategy Research Fellowship. Over a 9‑12 month period, fellows will engage in advanced learning, applied research, and policy work to support Somalia's green transition.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct policy and analytical research on climate finance, biodiversity finance, and sustainable investment.
• Support the development of green taxonomy, carbon market frameworks, and blended finance mechanisms.
• Assist institutional strengthening initiatives, including public financial management and climate governance.
• Produce evidence‑based reports, policy briefs, and knowledge products tailored to Somali contexts.
• Engage with government agencies, international partners, and stakeholders to influence climate and environmental policy.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or early‑career professional with a strong interest in climate policy, finance, or environmental governance.
• Demonstrated analytical ability and experience in research or policy analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Commitment to contributing to Somalia's sustainable development goals.

Required skills

• Research methodology and analytical writing.
• Understanding of climate finance concepts such as green taxonomy, carbon markets, and blended finance.
• Knowledge of environmental governance and public financial management.
