Head of Surveyors

About the role

Milestone Geo Systems is seeking a Head of Surveyors to lead all surveying activities for its multi‑year Master Planning and Land Management project in Lower Juba, Somalia. This full‑time, on‑site position reports to project managers and works closely with GIS specialists and clients to deliver accurate spatial data.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and supervise field survey teams to ensure high‑quality data collection.
• Review survey plans, validate measurements and guarantee compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings and documentation for governmental and commercial clients.
• Mentor and train survey staff, promote best practices and optimise use of modern survey equipment.

Required profile

• Strong background in land surveying, geomatics and topographic/cadastral work.
• Experience leading survey teams on large‑scale land‑management or infrastructure projects, preferably in East Africa.
• Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.

Required skills

• Use of total stations and GNSS/GPS survey instruments.
• GIS and mapping expertise, including spatial data management and map production.
• Proficiency in topographic and cadastral surveying techniques.
